Temporary & Contract Opportunities
In this ever changing economy, temporary and contract work is a viable and attractive transitional alternative to a direct-hire job. Temporary and contract work often opens doors for direct-hire employment opportunities. Additionally, job seekers are able to maintain their professional skills while earning a paycheck. The team at Mackey & Guasco Staffing Associates can work together to manage your temporary and direct-hire job search simultaneously.
All temporary and contract employees should review the following to get a better understanding of the process involved in securing temporary employment.
Attendance and Dress Code
Once you commit to a temporary position, it is very important that you follow through with the assignment. Your recruiter will be able to advise you of the hours and appropriate dress code. Please arrive on time each day. If for any reason you are unable to arrive on time, be certain to notify your recruiter immediately by telephone, as email is not always reliable. Additionally, if you are ill and unable to work, it is imperative to contact Mackey and Guasco Staffing Associates as soon as possible so that we can make arrangements for your replacement and advise our corporate client.
Performance On The Job
It is in your best interest to put your best foot forward on every assignment. Sometimes temporary employees are not fully utilized. If you don’t have anything to do, ask for work. Helpful and positive employees are often recognized and increase their chances for landing direct-hire employment.
It is imperative that you do not use a client’s phone, fax, e-mail or computer for personal use. Remember, you are representing Mackey & Guasco Staffing Associates.
Availability
It is important that you keep in touch with your recruiter. Let them know what your availability is each week. Assignments come and go quickly; therefore, it is to your benefit to let us know where we can reach you at all times.
Timesheets
All employees must complete a Mackey & Guasco Staffing Associates timesheet for each week. Timesheets must be signed by your supervisor. Use a new timesheet each week. Should you work for more than one client in any given week, you will have to complete a new timesheet for each client. Any overtime hours (hours over 40) must be approved by your supervisor.
For your convenience a blank timesheet will be included with each paycheck or pay stub. Additionally, a copy of our timesheet can be downloaded in a .pdf format and printed. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader.
If you do not have it, you can download the reader for free by clicking on this link.
Paychecks
All hours must be faxed to our office no later than noon on Monday for the preceding week.
For your convenience, we can either mail or hold your paycheck for pickup. Please indicate in the space provided on the timesheet whether you would like us to hold or mail your check. Your check will be mailed if this section on the timesheet is left blank. Direct deposit is also available; please ask for details. Paychecks are available for pick-up on Wednesdays. In order for us to release your check, we must have the corresponding time sheet.
Holiday Pay
After completing 1000 consecutive hours, which is the equivalent to six months of full time work for Mackey & Guasco Staffing Associates, current temporary employees will earn Holiday Pay. You will automatically be paid for the following holidays when they fall on a week day:
- New Year’s Day
- Memorial Day
- Fourth of July
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
Remember, communication with your recruiter is the key to a successful temporary experience. We promise to listen to you and be responsive.
We look forward to a mutually beneficial working relationship!
